Do I have to Index my Forum on Webmaster Tools for it to show up in search?

I have a forum on my site that I cannot do a search for on google it shows up blank, how do I get my forum posts and forum link to be indexed into google so when I search a forum topic or type my forum name it shows up on google search?

My site is already indexed in google and google news. So do I do this through webmaster tools I am very unfamiliar with this whole process I am new to this.

think so. what software you using? vbulletin? phpbb? smf?

you can submit your sitemap to webmaster tool that will get your forum indexed on google. also, you can link to your forum form your main site and google will be able to follow the link and get your forum indexed as well. alternately, you can build backlinks so that google can follow those links to your site to index your forum

promote your forum as promote your site. I think the principle is the same.

 

is it always necessary to submit url to be indexed by google or there is other ways to get indexed.do backlinks help in indexing. can any one suggest.

 

I think being indexed does not mean well ranking. So, you need to do more seo jobs on your forum if you want it appears on Google search result pages.

 

I just indexed my forum,
hopefully it shows up in google search, like thats how I found this forum because someone posted a topic on something I was searching for that mentioned Adsense tips.

now I just need more members and traffic and good threads thats the hard part getting an active forum with good traffic.

Build some links + social bookmark. Also you forum need to get a little active to increase the crawling rate.

 

Its not a mandatory thing, but it helps little.

I would rather spend time on marketing, and posting good content. Its search engine's job to find and index content.
