Hey everyone, We just launched theblognerds.com approx 3 weeks ago and I'm seeing an issue with how we're appearing on Google. Here's the issue I'm noticing: 1) If I search theblognerds on Google, my site description comes up as my latest post. I'd like to get this to show an actual description of our site like other media sites do. I have a proper about page set up at /about-us but this doesn't seem to be working. 2) My preview image on the Google search result page shows an old page from a coming soon plugin we had installed before the site went live. We've deleted the plugin but it still seems to be showing up. What I've tried: We're running on WordPress and I've installed the XML for Google Plugin to help with our sitemap, everything seems to be set up properly. I've registered with Google Webmaster and I'm not seeing any errors there, the crawl and index health seem to be fine. I've also tried to use the Fetch feature but it returns as the old coming soon page every time. I'm really not as experienced as I should be with Google but if I could just get a hint on where I might making any issues I'd be very grateful. Thanks.
This will work itself out in time. I don't know how often Google truly updates information, but I know from a ton of my sites that they are pretty slow to display new information. If you give it a few weeks, it will start appearing like it should,...but it can sometimes take longer. Another thing you may want to do is set up Google Authorship, so that your picture appears in the search results too. I have a tutorial if you need/want it, just holler.
