Do i have enough content to start advertising?

    Hi everyone! :)

I've been working on my site for ages now, adding stuff, changing stuff. ;)

I've held back advertising, as i wanted to have some content on for when people visit, so they'd come back.

But can anyone tell me if im ready to start submitting my site to the 1000's of free directorys?

After i've submited to all of them dirs, what do you think would be the next best thing to do? (dont mind paying money, if its good) - i've read lots of posts on here, so know all the differnt options - but after directroy submitting - what would YOU do? :p

    Just a quick check:

Games: 378 (Loads more to add, more each day)
Vids: 66 (Getting more, takes awhile to put them on as i have 2 formats - wmv and 3gp for phones)
Pictures: 120 (again, can ad more)
Logos: 119 (want users to submit to these really)
Midi files / ringtones: 5679 (same as above)
    Themes: 5 (same as above)

I need people to visit to add stuff - i need stuff to get people to visit.

Im thinking of either paying people to add stuff, or a competition where someone is picked at random? what you think would be the best option? or the price to pay for new phone themes?

    Thanks for any advice everyone,

    Kind regards.

It looks like you’ve got more than enough content to start advertising.

As well as posting to various directories you can always join as many forums as you can and post relevant posts.
Signatures are quite a good way of attracting users.

A competition is a good idea, but it can also be very short lived.

Paying for people to visit is not a good idea, it doesn’t really help.

deffinately - i've seen far less content on sites that pay money to advertise!

Don't expect much (if any) traffic from the free directories tho lol.

I've seen 500 hits a day from a blog with like 20 articles. So yeah, go ahead and start advertising :)

Having a competition would be a good idea, provided you get loads of targeted hits. Paying people to post stuff would be a better idea IMO, but only if you offer a referral program. I've "exploited" the get-paid-to industry (ages ago) and found out it can be quite proffitable...

Submit to like 100,000 free directories and you'll get a lil bit of traffic from SEs :D

Cheers for all the comments guys - looks like im ready to start advertising then :)

-- I'm a bit stuck now with this. :( I was going to spend a few days just subbmitting to the massive list of "Free Marketing Resources" posted by Discreet here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=62009

    That covers:

    ARTICLE SUBMISSIONS
    BANNER EXCHANGE WEBSITES
    WEB DIRECTORIES

-- i'm not sure what to do if these arent the best ways to get started advertising. How would you best invest your money into other methods? Should i get an adwords account?

Any advice would be really apericiated. I only make about $0.03 - $0.15p a click (examples not real figures) so investing lots of money before it starts paying - i dont know if i would ever make it back.

    Thanks again everyone.

It depends what you want from your site, if you are looking to give up work tomorrow then spend on PPC and get results you pay for, if you just want to see some free steady traffic then write some articles and send them to the article directories (or spend $30 getting someone here to send them for you) and submit to the relevent free directories that are also listed on here.

Use forum sigs to promote your site when you post to them and start building good links with related sites.

This should keep you busy for a few weeks and you will start to see some good steady trafic.

Also find some low compatition keywords to use when you promote your site, this will get you to the top of the search engin rankings quicker and you might also avoid the sandbox.

    Good luck

    - Man, if i thought that just paying for PPC advertising would let me give up my job - wow i'd do it today :)

I just dont think clicks on my site earn me enough back to pay for PPC right now, i was thinking of getting into this when my site could pay for it.

Cheers - I'll change all the sigs on the forums i post on to the same one i have on here

I'll get working on this when i get home from work. :)

Thanks for the post Ske11, its been very helpful.

    Regards.

yeah get advertising. if you wrote the flash games yourself maybe you could submit them to other sites but put your sitename at the start of the game.

    Right! thanks all!!! :)

Just out of intreast, and i know its not 100% possible to say, but if i did advertise, how much do you think i could earn from my site? (looking at the site, and thinking that i do the advertising techniques above, and keep adding new games and videos each day)

    Kind reagards.
