Do I have a problem with Google?

I have been having a bit of a problem with ranking andlately. I've been adding backlinks, about 400 confirmed in the last week from directories and doing a Yahoo Site Explorer inquiry I show about 1000.
Today I went on Google Webmaster Tools and for external links I show a total of 39. Total. On the list of pages from my site with external links, all BUT the homepage was listed.

Do they show backlinks to your hyomepage in a different area, call it something different? Is there a reason why they don't show the links to my homepage or do I have something seriously screwed up?

Google is trying hard to run-away, and SEO companies are trying their hard to tight their noose around google's neck.

Google is currently trying to hide factors contributing in higher rankings. Earlier everything was out and open. Nowdays most of the stuff is kept hidden under the rug.

Google might have crawled your back links, but might have preffered to confuse by showing small number of back links.

In case you have confusion you should try searching back links on Yahoo and MSN. You will get a clear picture ;)

I've had the site for about 9 years and it just doesn't seem right that there isn't any backlinks showing for the homepage. Using Yahoo, with www/775 links, without www/290 links

G will always show less backlinks I find, especially when you use cirtain tools. SOmone suggested using webmaster toold and this is the key. It can takes weeks or months to show, and if they are hidden in a crappy directory they may well never show.
    Juice is what you need

if they are not listing the backlink for your homepage then maybe they don't feel good about the rate your backlink increase. and usually if this happen I don't think your homepage will be in the serps for some time.
