Lets say i am the publisher and i have adsense ads on my website. When inserting the ads on different placed i want to take a look at them how and where they fit best, Because i am generating a self impression of ads (I am not asking about Clicks), will google ban me for this?
Are you the only one looking at these ads? if not, you've got nothing to worry about. And even if you are the only one (new sites mainly), it is very rare for google to ban someone for this. Allen.H
If google would ban people just visiting their sites, then I think a lot of publishers would be getting banned everyday. Impressions by visiting own site doesn't count.
Google have banned plenty of people for invalid impressions and so they should. CPM ads pay per impressions so if someone clocks thousands of unnatural impressions costing the advertiser they should be booted. If you are testing a website, it's not finished and should not have AdSense on it.
Thanks, I didn't know about it. But it's suppose to modify the AdSense code, and according to the TOS, we are not supposed to do so. Is it safe ?
Look here, is Shawn banned? No! If you change the colour, you're modifying the code too. You're only helping Google offer better quality if you turn on testmode for yourself.
dont forget to turn it (google_adtest) off after testing Or you can disable javascript temporarily while you are working on your site.
IMO, the only way ad impressions of your own would hurt is decrease your CTR, if you had a small number of visitors that is. Heck! I check my site thousands of times/day . Just make sure you don't click on your own ad *by mistake* .
Sure, but I wouldn't compare Shawn's AdSense account to mine Modifying colour is allowed (they write it down) but I read nowhere in AdSense documentation about testing mode, so, well I'd like to be sure before experimenting. But I agree it's would be an improvement for everybody, this is why it's strange that Google don't talk about it.
Better is to filter out yourself by IP or User Agent. You can set your FireFox to something unique to reference against. if me test_mode = on else test_mode = off
Thank you i will try for test_mode, i have a wordpress blog and i can easily turn it on and off by my IP, thanks
Another thing you can do to hide the ads from yourself is by excuding them with a little php code. I posted a simple solution in this post: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=32144
