Hello, I'm considering re-activating my forum admin past and starting a new forum based around a large town/city that I live in. There is very little competition, but its also very hard to find examples up and down the country where this has worked before and a templae for doing so, so the question is - do you think that a forum based on a demographic area rather than a ' online niche ' will work? It's hard to predict the outcome because I can find vey few forums based on a city so have no idea if my idea is anygood. I need an exernal view on this please... Thanks, Andy.
Would the forum be just about anything would there be a niche to it? I think it would be better to have just a big forum with sub sections for demographic areas. But I guess you'll never really know until you try it out
It would be community driven - I'm thinking reviews of local restaurants, places to stay etc, trade board a bit like gumtree?
It all depends on how well you market it. Can you establish yourself in the city? Is there other city-based forums around you? Especially in your city? It's possible, and I've seen niche forums like this succeed - but it all depends on how dedicated you are, how well you promote, and how many people decide to join.
Anyone got similar examples if this idea? Or perhaps additional things I could add into this concept? What is the beat source of revenue for something like this?
