Hi, I always see forum signature links included in lists of link building suggestions. My question is, do these actually help your Pagerank/Google ranking at all, and if so how much? I can't help but ask myself how much Google could possibly value these types of links. Thanks in advance to anybody who can help.
I saw someone at a webmaster forum discussed this problem. They thought it helps just a little for it is not added by the owner of the site,it's added by its members,so Google may not take it seriously. Below is the oringinal post
The answer is : Not Much Forum signature links are similar to sitewide blog links, i.e. even if you have 10,000 posts with your signature in each post, the value will not sum up. It would be wrong to say that 10,000 links on the same forum is as good as 1 link on the same forum but i can't disagree either. Other techniques work better, forums however can be a good source for driving referral traffic to your site through your signature link.
I think search engines are consider only one back link from forum signature but we can get more traffic from forums.
The answer is yes, but only have a little value..., you need thousand signature to outrank your competitor...and also Ip diversity is very important.
Forum backlinks usually are of very low HQ when you look at them from a SEO point of view. However a big amount of them can give you a bit of a boost. I would personally though focus on less backlinks but that are worth more. Will probably save you some time so you can work on other stuff. One important thing is to make sure the forums you post on doesn't use nofollow on their links or your time will be totally wasted as no link juice will be passed when the nofollow tag is used. Hope this helped.
