    Hello DP,

What is the difference between do follow and no follow sites? When it comes to traffic, benefit for your sites and all things that could help your sites? thanks. :)

In terms of traffic directly there's no difference..

But dofollow links get followed & indexed by the google spider.. AND dofollow links pass on positivity from the referring site in terms of PR.. Now this does effect your traffic technically because dofollow links will improve your SERPs, I believe.

Dofollow links allow page rank to be passed to the linked page making them more powerful than nofollow. I suggest using firefox and nodofollow plugin to identify which links are dofollow.

Nofollow is a HTML attribute value used to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index. It is intended to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spamdexing from occurring in the first place. The nofollow attribute value is not meant for blocking access to content or preventing content to be indexed by search engines. The proper methods for blocking search engine spiders to access content on a website or for preventing them to include the content of a page in their index are the Robots Exclusion Standard (robots.txt) for blocking access and on page Meta Elements that are designed to specify on an individual page level, what search engine spider should or should not do with the content of the crawled page.

Dofollow is a HTML attribute value used to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index. It is intended to increase the effectiveness of certain types of search engine.

Ater those description of the "NOFollow" and "DOFollow", we can said that the DOFollow site actually provide a linking to your site but the "NOollow" not.If you are looking for improving the PR of your site by commenting to other site (whether blog or website), then you have to go for DOFollow Blog/Website. On the other hand, to attract your visitor to comment on your website or blog, make your site to "DOFollow" is more effective. However, we shall be careful about the spam on your website or blog if you are setting your site to "DOFollow".

Simple, Search engine spiders crawl dofollow links and don't crawl nofollow links.
The name itself implies, either they do dollow these links or they don't...

sorry, but that isn't right. It's a missnamed tag - it doesn't mean 'don't follow', it means 'don't pass page rank down this link', and was designed as the prev poster said, to make spamming of blog comments etc completely pointless.

As google are the only engine currently using it, it might not be as important as everyone seems to think.

As for 'stopping search engines following the link' - wrong. There have been number of tests to see whether it was possible to get a subpage indexed when the ONLY links to it were deliberately nofollow, and guess what? They got indexed. They didn't gain any pagerank from the link though.

I don't think visitors prefer dofollow. I think what matters most to visitors is its content whether it's useful for them or not.

Search engines don't ignore nofollow links. Google only provides PR juice for dofollow links.

Here's a tip I heard from an SEO specialist:

I've heard that many people chose to make commenting on their blogs by other people, a no-follow and many people even make the blogroll a no-follow so as to rank higher in the search engines though there are no strict rules as well.

for me websites with no follow tags are just a waste of time, although they may hold potential visitors for my website... but still, gaining no backlinks annoys me...

I think that in blog comments, nofollow is fine, but if you are genuinely crediting someone in a blog POST for example, the links should be dofollow. If you are going to give credit, you should give credit properly.

Nofollow linking when crediting is like being congratulated for winning a race in the Olympics, but without recieving a medal.
