Yes, dofollow is a way of saying to googele "this is a link i trust. nofollow is the opposite. Beacause of comment spam, most blogs are set up using nofollow as default. People using dofollow on comment usally moderate comments moore to get rid of comment spam..

these are your back links for making your pr high. Do remember quality and relevancy before posting your links.
It is the same thing. There is no difference, a backlink is a backlink. Dofollow backlink are weighted a lot more than caltalog links but it is stil link buliding for serp. The link I provided is to a first class website for creating backlinks and it is relevant for link building.
If your commenting just for the conversation, you might as well comment on a nofollow blog. So I assume the serch for dofollow links are for backlink purposes(as well as conversation offcourse) anyway...
do follow blogs and forums are less and less now. just treat others' blogs as your own, have relevant comments but not spam. Then more blogs will open to you..

There are plenty of services, the one I recommend is fastblogfinder There is a free version that works just fine. However, it is in your best interest to simply use Google Blogs and find relevant, current, and high quality niche specific blogs. In my experience, blog commenting doesn't really do that much these days. But it is your call. Hope this helps!
