I’ve come across this dofollow and nofollow topic quite several times in many forums and I’ve replied to them as per my knowledge. What I know is secondary, but I want to know clearly about the topic and how far they would impact in popularizing the website.
I will try to give definitions of both Do-follow blogs: A blog that has been modified to allow comments with the no-follow attribute removed. Typically, this encourages visitor participation. No-Follow Blogs: A no follow code, or no follow, is a code that is a non-standard HTML attribute value used to signify to search engines that when a particular hyperlink is clicked on, it should not affect the ranking of the website in the search engine The attributes are of Google, google only counts backlink from do-follow blogs/websites
In simple words if we say Do follow means search engine bots, spider or crawler follow that links, i.e. they see that link and also visit that link or site. In no follow spider, crawler or bot doesn't follow that link means they see the link but doesn't follow that link. This is what i believe in do follow and no follow funda. Might be i must wrong but it is as simple as it.
Also be on the lookout for the Meta tag Robots nofollow in the head section. It will tell the search engines not to follow any link on the page. That way each individual link dosen't need the nofollow tag. Cheers!
Cool, I have been wondering myself what "no follow and do follow" are about. I have yet to learn more about them and how to implement them on my blog.
no follow links are indexed by google but are not considered as backlinks while evaluating google pagerank. do follow links are search engine friendly
