I'm preparing some ads, and I have three different copies. At first I was thinking that I could turn them into animated gifs and show one general ad then a detailed ad like "Make Money Sports Blogging!" then "Click here to join the sports blogger forums." But I realized that those ads really annoy me and I never click them regardless of what they are advertising. Is that true for users overall? Should I make it a gif or not?
Can you test both? That would be the best way to find out which one will work for you better. Could you place one on one page and one on another page? I would put them in the same location if you can on different pages. Or you should test one week with one and one week with the other on the front page.
I'm all for testing, but there are some things that don't need it. ... The answer is obvious. Most do not like flash ads, and since you can make basically the same with stationary banner ads anyway.... Always go with the majority of the group. In this case, it is with the ones who do not like flash ads. And in case you were wondering, just because you see them all over the Internet, it doesn't necessarily mean they work any better, and the webmaster is making more money. There are a lot of clueless webmasters out there.
I have heard that Flashing or Blinking ads do not work quite as well as static/text ads but honestly I have not done any research myself on the subject.....
Does anyone know if its possible to use javascript in Flash? (not entirely relevant, although it could be )
Flashing ads do work to a degree - otherwise they wouldn't be all over the internet. However, a lot of people are ad-blind to those sorts of banners now. I guess it depends on what you are promoting. I've run some banner campaigns in the past, and the results were always horrible. PPC converts a lot better.
