The only reason why people are complaining about it is because it new and change is somewhat difficult to cope up with, but with time most people are going to love it

It's extremely sad to still see people dishing Vista. I thought it was just a fad? Guess not.

Honestly, all the hardware manufacturers have solved most of the issues related to Vista. Thanks to SP1, the only difference between XP and Vista is a few miilseconds/FPS in performance. If your computer can't handle Vista stably, i think it is time to invest in a new computer. It can only cost you a few hundred dollars.

It's not bad once you get used to it...

I'd recommend you go through and change some settings so that it's similar to XP for a while, then slowly switch over to Vista stuff...

I've been using Vista since it debuted, and haven't looked back since. Much more stable than XP in my experience.

I hate vista on laptops, I used to be an xp fanboy bashing vista but now I'm not even dual booting xp+vista I just have my vista ultimate x64. I think it depends what type of hardware you have.

Ok, there has been enough garbage spewed out in here. I will try and remind people about their "beloved" XP.

When XP was released, there was a tremendous amount of complaining that 98/2000 was good enough and that XP was a resource hog. People are now saying the same nonsense about Vista.

XP had an absolutely horrendous security track record for years. XP was being exploited constantly and costing business billions. And, it was making regular users lives a complete nightmare. I know this is a fact, I had to clean up many peoples computers of exploits.

There were many driver/software compatibility issues with XP when it was released.

I am not talking out of my rear end here. I was an IT Analyst for the Canadian Government at the time, and remember first hand the nightmare that XP was for many users. It was far worse than Vista.

    A few points to remember.

Driver problems are most probably not the fault of the operating system. It is up to the hardware manufacturers/vendors to deal with that and not Microsoft. Every new Microsoft operating system has that issue. XP certainly did, I remember it well. To all Linux Zealots, why don't you mention the hardware issues with Linux? The Linux hardware issues far outweigh the Vista ones. Please do not pretend otherwise.

The security of Vista is light years ahead of XP. There is absolutely no comparison here. XP was an absolute nightmare.

Does anyone remember when OS X was finally released? I certainly do. The complaints of bloated and horrendous performance on even top end machines at the time were widespread.

I just bought a new desktop a few weeks ago. It cost me $399 CAD, which would be around $300 US. 3GB Ram and a Core2Duo E7200 CPU. It came with Windows Vista Home Premium. This machine is rock solid and extremely fast. Everything worked right away out of the box. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this machine.

    $300 US!

Bashing Microsoft may be fashionable, but the level of ignorance displayed by many of those that do is astounding.

Vista is a fine operating system. And, a fully functioning system can be had for dirt cheap.

I've been using Vista for at least a year and I've got to say that I haven't been disappointed yet. They are constantly updating it to make sure that it's secure. I also haven't noticed any of these glitches that many users are experiencing. I mean some of the stuff on Vista is annoying but the way I deal with it is by disabling things.

    They have to.
I've noticed a lot of people talking about how they made Vista better by turning things off. That is really funny.

Hate Vista. But it came with My PC otherwise Id would prefer XP.

Thus the new upcoming windows ( windows 9 ) I think its called is supposed to be much better with the slickness of Vista but with the reliability of XP.

As a regular user Vista isn't that bad, the UAC is freaking annoying as hell but oh well, as a programmer Vista is a pain in the ass, the UAC and elevated privledges suck.

i am a PC "crack" and i am working with computers and OS for a long time already.

I have a high end PC with 4 cores, which is overclocked to 3.5Ghz, 4GB ram, nice graphics card.

I have Vista64 on this PC and it feels and handles SLOWER and unresponsive compared to my old PC which only XP on it. (The old PC is way slower.) I fvcking hate Vista.

I have vista on a laptop and XP on my desktop.
    I still much prefer XP.
I'm not knocking Vista as such, I just find XP more user friendly.
