Usually directories require us a reciprocal link. Is it possible to give a link from another site that you own? Let's say: Directory-XXX links to my site A and my site B links to Directory-XXX. Will directories accept this link arrangement?
My oppinion it's doesn't work. I think "Directory-XXX links to my site A and my site A links to Directory-XXX." is work. Is it ?
In SEO perspective, this setup works best for both Directory-XXX and Site A since it is not using a reciprocal link, which is not encouraged by Google.
Requiring a reciprocal link is considered by Google to be manipulation of pagerank and a violation of Google Webmaster Guidelines. You should avoid directories that require them.
I accept always a linkback from 3rd site. And as reciprocal links don't have anymore so much value, I even prefer simple site submission to my directory, thinking about deleting the "Regular links with reciprocal" option from my dir.
This is probably the reason why the question has been asked. Bad guidelines always lead to bad practices. All link buiding practices may be considered by Google to be manipulation of pagerank. Some google guidelines aim just at promoting adwords.
