do direct image links count as backlinks?

    say an image is linked on a bored with IMG bbcode tags. do search engines count that as a backlink?

    Yup, they should count as long as the linked images on the site are do follow.

    cached links always drive good traffic..and they are known as backlinks too..but it might hv dofollow attribute.

    If its a do follow link with an Alt tag it counts this gives an edge for branding which is useful for recognition in the industry.
