Do different Search Engines analyze/recognize backlinks differently?

    I have a 6-mo old website.

When I look/analyze for backlinks I get the following results:
    Google: 1
    Yahoo: 89
    AltaVista: 51
    AllTheWeb: 51

I know my site has backlinks from at least 6 other websites. All backlinks are at least 4-5 months old.

One reason I believe Yahoo has such a high number is because they seem to count each page as a backlink, even if there are 20 pages all on the same website.
But that still does not account for the low Google number...

On the other hand: Google shows 155 indexed pages, Yahoo shows 0 (!), and AltaVista and AllTheWeb 35 each.

Does anyone have any comments/experience regarding this?
And how can I get Google to recognize the other backlinks?

    Thanks !

Don't worry Google doesn't show all backlinks but still consider them and give them a certain weight.
Keep in mind that different search engines have different ways to rank sites so factors vary from Google to Yahoo.

Use Google's Webmaster Tools to know what backlinks Google actually sees.

Each search engine has their own algorithm, and yes they'll weight your inbound links differently.
