Does anyone know if deeplinks affect the page rank of the main domain / home page? i.e. if my site is www.mydomain.com and I have enough backlinks, content etc to justify a page rank of 3; if i then start building links to www.mydomain.com/articles and get that to page rank 2, does www.mydomain.com get any juice from this?
I do not think so, It may help you overall in the search engine results position; but i think that the "Page" Rank... is individual to each page. ~ Mike
They could do if you think about that page being linked back to your homepage. Just as page rank is passed from your homepage to other pages of your site, it could be the other way around also.
Page rank is passed by a link if your deep pages are linked ot your main pages then yes. It will all trickle up around and down your site.
Yes, the inner pages, assuming they contain dofollow links back to your home page, will have a positive PR effect on the home page. If the PR of your inner pages increases, that will affect your home page in a positive way. To maximize the SEO benefit, be sure that all your inner pages have a link back to your home page. And be sure to use keyword-rich anchor text in those links back. For example, don't just use "Home". Instead, I use something like "Blue Widgets HOME", where "Blue Widgets" is your home page's primary keyword phrase. If you wish, instead of using "Blue Widgets..." for all the links to the home page, you can vary the keywords a bit, so as to get in a few of your secondary home page keywords in the anchor text of those "...HOME" links. For example, "Widgets HOME" or "Discount Blue Widgets HOME" or "Quality Widgets HOME", etc.
As an exercise I tried this 4-5 months ago. I started a new website and had no backlinks to home page and got some dofollow (as well as nofollow) links for internal pages. Internal page as well as homepage got PR1 though there were no backlinks for homepage.
You might be able to ge that inner page to a PR3, which could help your homepage PR4 if its liked to from there.
this can help your internal linking. but also the reason to get deep links is so that if someone is looking for something exact through google, then they will see 2 search results for your site: your main domain and the exact page where it was found. It eliminates competition very nicely!
The only way I believe it will help somehow is in case the deeplinks contain link to the homepage . Otherwise , I don't think it will help.
