On of our new webmasters swears Dedicated servers perform better than Shared servers. Is this true? And if so What about VPS or vertual private servers? where do they fall? We are small and on a shared server, but if it works better it is probably worth the money. Any thoughts or experiences?
i highly doubt myself. i had sites ranked #1 and #2 which were on shared hosting. and i also have site running from dedicated server which is nowhere to be found
Same here, the only difference will be your website performance and speed, nothing related to search engines and SERP.
Out side of speed can you think of any other PROs we have found we can't seem to utilizes features from ultimate SEO on a shared site, looking for ammo to give the BOSS for the upgrade,
This whole topic has been talked about many times, Let me see if I can find the thread, it had a bunch of responses, Or just wait for Dan Shultz he can arm you with some good info, he knows his shit
Well, Its hard to answer that especially when not knowing what you are hosting, programming language , or what your traffic is like, If you could provide more details I can provide a more detailed answer
We are run an OSC CREloaded PHP 4, We will have to migrate to php 5 as the only servers available at our hosting site are php5, but since we want to start a testing site, the change is a forgone conclusion, we will be switching. We have about 5k worth of products but they are all linked or copied to other locations on average 3 times each. We also don't currently have video capabilities but would like to add them
To developers, perform means run faster. A dedicated server will most definitely run circles around a shared one, especially a virtual server. The search engines won't care at all, though; the details of your hosting plan don't affect how relevant you are to any given query. Unless maybe it's about hosting....
Basicly, what you are asking is about the wrong subject. You asking about the difference between dedicated server & sharded hosted when it comes to SEO supremacy when really the question should be what which will my website perfrom better on. Honestly website server specs and stats have nothing to do with SEO.
Right. I don't see why a dedicated server should perform better against a shared server with the SE. This brings me a thought whether SEs can distinguish between a dediated server and a shared server resource
Yes & No, remember most dedicated servers are from hosting services, so its all the same thing technically. Unless you had your own direct T1 in your home and had the server there. Even then your technically be hosted by someone via connection to the internet.
