    In your experience...

Do lists that are built with subscribers who join in order to be entered into a drawing actually make sales? Or are these subscribers usually entering only for the drawing and rarely reading the actual ezine content?

I've tried this, and i've found it to be a bit hit and miss. It really depends on where you advertise your contest. In my experience when i have advertised a contest i am running on sites that have many people who would be interested in my site anyway, i've found it to work out really well. Other times, i have advertised contests on comptetition portals, where you get all kinds of people signing up and usually i get no retrun from that.

Like tyzer says, it depends on your market...I have sponsored some contests on blogs before...if they get good traffic before the contest, you might see a uprise in traffic during, and then back down...however, some of that traffic that comes just for the contest will stick around for longer.
