Do content and placement targeted ads the same as Google Adsense ads?

I'm a little confused here because I thought the content network and placement targeted ads were different than Adsense. Please clarify this.

 

'Adsense' is 'Adwords' looked at from the other side - it's the program for people who have websites that can carry adverts, whereas Adwords is the program for people who want to place adverts.
So basically, yes, content and placement targeted ads, are adverts that come under someone else's adsense program.

I thought Adsense was a completely different program than Adwords.

 

It depends on the side you look at it from..

If you have a website and want to make money selling ads, you go to adsense.

If you want to promote your site, you buy ads so you go to adwords

 

It is

Adsense is for website owners

Adwords is for marketers
