Hello, i got some feeling that there are companies that when you rent server form them for a year or more, they then give you physical server, for free, ship it to you. Is that correct and how this is named so i can google such companies? thx
I've never heard of such a thing in this industry so far, and I've had my share of encounters with all kinds of hosting companies out there. Where did you hear this? You can't just "have a feeling" about something like this...
I have seen this is the past but I haven't seen it lately - then again I haven't looked. Best bet would be a search along the lines of "dedicated server rent to own" and combinations thereof.
Well blow me timber, here is one... http://www.hostingswift.com/rent-to-own-dedicated-server (not sure if it is legit as I am not looking for one...)
never experience such...web hosting company offers free web servers initially for few months for promotions and client 'use to' factor.
There are many companies that do this, most just don't advertise it publically. You can always work out a deal with them. You would want to look up rent-to-own or lease-to-own servers. dacentec.com is one of the larger players in the rent-to-own server business. They run a good show, and their prices are reasonable. Keep in mind though that their hardware is older. They don't have brand new servers.
What you are referring to is called, "rent to own". You pay a set fee for a set amount of time then in the end you receive the physical server.
Very interesting, this is the first I have heard of it myself. I don't really see the overall benefit in the end though. I mean if you have the server in hand you will then need to colo it and maintain it yourself. If you use a hosting provider they can take care of that for you. Additionally, if you use a provider you are generally on newer and newer equipment. I wonder how old the eventual "rent to own" server that you get will be? Interesting all around. Thanks for the insight.
