NO , bots are not counted in analytics . and also google instants was not counted in analytics , it was an update made in analytics after instant was launched
i dont't think Google analytics has any provision for filtering out bot visits. Reason is, today there are numerous bots apart from google and yahoo which are crawling websites. And analytics is meant for recording each and every visit. Though they can have provison of filtering out some popular known bot like Google bot or yahoo bot. You can test it from your own. 1. Set Google alert for your websites backlinks or follow your webmaster tools -> links to site 2. Once you receive any link check out for referal visit in google analytics 3. If you find every backlinks is bringing atleast one visit as referal then it can be concluded that Google analytics shows bot visits 4. If not, then you can say that analytics is filtering bot visits
Bots won't be considered by Analytics. Anyhow, you check it out properlyin the referal visit of Google analytics.
I mostly check the bot visits with the AWstats program that runs on my hosting account since, like mentioned before, analytics doesn't seem to offer those stats.
Thanks to Google, they do a good job in this area compared to perhaps other Analytics tools. Is there a general forum here on DP to talk more about web analytics in general. I'm curious..... if not...... I hope one can be added
