    What's the deal with bookmarks?

If I have a link and it 301's to a bookmark, such as this link...

    site1412.net/discussion/107/florianfreundt/#item_0

would a search engine index the #item_0 or would it just index the main page?

Just the main page. It ignores the #

I dont think so. I am just going by experience :) and what seems like the logical move for a search engine.

It does of course index the entire site, since the # part just tells the browser where on the site to start.

You haven't seen half-indexed sites in google, have you? :)
