I'm thinking about setting up a blog in the IM/make money online niche.

What should i do? Write product reviews? Put up some clickbank banners? Place Adsense ads? All three of them? I need help guys...

I would like some advice from people who are already in the game and what works for them... Thanks!

Well you'll find that the majority of people that setup blogs in the "make money online" niche don't make any money...

People probably won't click the Adsense ads or Clickbank banners, and being a new blogger, they won't trust your product reviews.

My advice is to try a different niche unless you have some master plan that will make you more famous than John Chow.

If you live in non english speaking country, I guess the opportunity is still wide open in IM niche. The internet business is relatively young in a several non english speaking country, so if you take action fast maybe you can be a local IM guru.

I suggest you buy PLR products and translate it in local language and sell it as your own product.
But if you live in english speaking country, I think you better pick another niche. You can still apply the PLR strategy though, I think that's the easiest way, I do it right now and I'm happy with the result :D

There's tons of cheap PLR here in DP in the marketplace section.

And yes the blog works! It's easy to setup and easy to get ranking, make sure you post a lot. 1 or 2 post everyday will make your blog have lots of page indexed in search engine. The more page you have will increase the chance to catch buyers. Seems like a simple method but I like to do it that way.

    Good luck mate!

Blogs do work for sure but you have to spend time on them and make each one unique and interesting to the reader to get the full benefit.

Yes they do, but listen to the others. Don't make yet another, "Make Money Online." Blog.
It is ridiculously saturated with start up bloggers who have no clue how to make money online...just recycling what they read on other blogs.

You will get frustrated because you have no knowledge base, no experience, and no credibility.
Blog about something you know, and not what you think is a high paying keyword.

I agree. I have a "make money online" blog DatMoney.com and it's very hard to make money. Don't get me wrong, I just made almost $1,000 in the month of February but that was through all my online ventures.

Honestly, there are TOO many people saying stuff like "this is how you make money" or "this is how you get TONS of visitors" but when you check their stats, they must not be following their own guidelines because it doesn't work for them.

I'm sure there is still enough newbies out there for me to make a buck...
I mean, if i can write articles and get my traffic for free, what would be the
    best option?

Traffic from articles tend to be more targeted since the reader had to read an entire article, so if i post a couple of posts and reviews here and there, shoudn't i be able to get some decent results?

No! If it were that easy there would be no need for forums, and everyone in the free world would be rich.

Trust what we are telling you...blog about something that you know about.
You will not be successful blogging about something that you have no knowledge in.

I would have to agree. Unless you can write really interesting and uniques articles and you're very good at convincing people to believe you, I probably wouldn't.

I see so many "money making" blogs who says the same thing on how to make money, build traffic, etc but they don't make any money or get a lot of visitors. So a lot of people feel it's like an empty promise because if it doesn't work for them, why should anyone believe them, you know?

But yes, you should blog about something that you are willing to committ yourself to and that you're very knowledgable in.

Must agree with WhoJayBe, there are too many money making blogs that just regurgitate the same content as if its a new idea. If you want to succeed in this niche you have to stand out from the rest of the 'spammy blogs' in the niche.

If you can find another topic, that could have a large potential audience and not too much competition you will be on to a winner.

    Best of luck,
    Martyn

Blogs do work but you must write about stuff that isn't very covered... there are dozens of blogs about how to make money online.... there isn't much more space.

Pick some other topic and your blog can be success.

Honestly, I would write about sex... I mean, my other blog DatCurious.com is exactly that BUT it has no nudity or anything.
