Broken links for a site is common now and then, or even for a problem that may causes thousands of bad links. Generally all search engines will accept such problems unless the number of bad links is small and the bad links are repaired or removed . So webowners have to keep in mind so as to correct such problems as soon as they are found. If broken links are allowed to remain, the search engines will increasingly slow down and may eventually reduce your rankings .

Yes. Don’t participate in link schemes designed to increase your site’s ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or “bad neighborhoods” on the web, as your own ranking may be affected adversely by those links.

Due to new Penguin update, links can also hurt your site, if they are bad links as from known spammers, penalized sites, and from sites that are irrelevant to your site's niche.

But getting natural link without bad links is more difficult. How can we toggle this situation.
