A link is a link, some are much better than others because of PR. But if I don't have to do work to get the PR 0 back link I will take it. Yes they do help.
There were many good points in this thread, most (all?) of them worth paying attention too! I think this one though is likely the most important, especially if it's related content. I mean, this thread has no PR, yet I'd not pass up the chance to get my sig listed The only real important things are getting it indexed by Search engines, and getting it seen by surfers. If it does one or both, then it's a good link. Of course, don't go out of your way to get PR0 links, but then don't shy away from getting more either. Q
i think those links will not help your pr but they will be counted as backlinks but they will effect nothink because of their power
They must matter because every new site or blog I have done starts off with all directory, and forum sigs before it's first update (with a few exchanges and articles), and I get PR 0 - PR 4, every time. Most of the links are PR 0 (60%) *He says jinxing himself*
Question........I have 4 websites with PR ranging from 1 to 3. If I were to put backlinks from those sites to my site with the PR of 0, would I be penalized from Google? The reason I ask is because I track all of my sites using Google analytics.
Well, I would link my sites together if they were related, but no sense in draining link juice from one to boost another, there are plenty of link options and directories for a new site that is a PR 0. No I don't see any reason for a penalty unless you are creating a link farm.
links from related sites can be very helpful to you even though they only got PR0... link to quality content counts!
drewfreeman- No point linking your sites if they are hosted on the same server/same ip that would not have any value, if it did gaining pr would be a case of hosting loads of sites and linking them all. As for Anchor text? well see my signature it says wooden garages, but its a link to my site. Which will help boost my site in the search engines for that search term, well potentially.
I'd like to add,(and MANY will disagree with me) If you can get your site on a dedicated IP, rather than a big shared hosting plan with hundreds of other sites, IMO, it makes a big difference out of the gate with many things. JMOBOE (just my opinion based on experience)
Google analytics won't make a difference. Rule of thumb for me: only link between sites that are related in subject / niche, unless on is a webdesign site. It makes perfect sense to link from your portfolio page to all the others.
It does. I thought that links from PR0 and new domains doesn't count at all. I was wrong - I have made few sites, the right anchor text and im in the top 10. now, the real battle has begun... GLuck.
