If I post for some help here and include my web site URL, will all the backlinks from these posts eventually hurt me in the rankings?
No, backlinks from DP will not hurt you. However, they won't help much either. However, if your site is not indexed by google yet, it could speed up the process of indexing it
its not gonna hurt you but will help you in some cases. not every single post you do will be indexed by google but when some posts get indexed, you will get a backlink. also, some posts will run for a long time which will not only get indexed but also get its own PR. in that case you will get some PR transferred as well
Well, every DP forum thread tends to have at least 7-10 replies. Most of the posting members have 4 links in their signatures. So the page has over 30-40 outgoing links, most of which are unrelated. Taking in consideration that 99% of the threads have PR 0 (and will stay that way), I doubt you're getting anything good from it, both from ranking and PR points of view. Having 10k posts will surely help at least a little bit
I thought that backlinks from unrelated content sites actually hurt you in the SERPS which is why I asked. And I don't see how DP can be related unless your site has a subject of web master, forums, blogs, etc.
No. Many people are using their signature links, their recent blog link, and even their location to gain traffic and rankings on search engines.
That is indeed true. Try creating posts or threads with links within contents. Good content is what i am talking about.
It is said that backlinks CANNOT affect negatively the serps of a site. If it were possible - everybody would try and get bad backlinks for their competitors, thus improving their own serps. So no, having a lot of irrelevant backlinks does not hurt, or at least it shouldn't.
Thats what I always thought. But G has been such a git recently..........just trying to be one step ahead. I am pretty sure that they police these forums and take 2 + 2 = 5
