Do Articles have to be on the same topic?

    Hi,

I'm working on a link building campaign using article posting. The site I'm trying to promote is an SEO tool. However, the only subject I can write lots of articles is food recipes. I've therefore written a few recipes and posted them on about 5 article directories. Is this a good or bad thing?

It's bad.... I mean, it'll be a link, and every link counts (except "nofollow") but if you write about any general SEO topic, and mention SEO once or twice, then it'll be a relevant link, and count quite a bit more for Google.

So, I would spend a little time learning SEO topics, or even re-writing some stuff from your link building blog, and submitting those.

Why can't you write articles related to what you are promoting? Look at other people's articles for ideas of content and put your link to your seo tool in the end of your article.

IMO, do not distribute article over the web,
Just publish on your website you will see good results of it.

Interesting results. Everyone seems to think I should write about SEO to promote an SEO site.

From this, I'd like to ask... What sort of damage am I doing by publishing recipes rather than SEO topics?

Childfont: Why are articles bad? I've seen some of my pages distributed over hundreds of pages. Admitedly most of them are splogs. But sure the few quality articles will eventually benefit me?

It could also be good, because you are writing about a subject that you care and know about, and that usually means quality.

But technically they are indeed far apart, maybe you could exchange articles?
    Or proceed as suggested...
