Do Adsense Image Ads Pay More Than Text Ads?

I currently have adsense 'image only' ads on my busiest site. Gets an average of about 15 clicks per day.

Does anyone know if having text ads (in same 468x60 size) has any effect on the amount you get.

I was thinking that banners would earn more because there is only one ad, where as in the text boxes there is two - and this will drive down the cpc for the text ads compared to the banner.

But then maybe there is less competition for the banner ads os they return less for me anyway?

Im really not sure, does anyone have any experience as to the pay difference (if any) between 'image only' and 'text only' ads.

    Thanks. :)

I found text ads give me most ctr. Probably because the visitors of my site has more options of what to click then. I mean, if you only have an image ad that only shows 1 ad , and if the visitor are not interested in this ad he wont click. However if you show text ads, you can have up to 5 different ads, and thus the visitor may find 1 or more of those ads interesting enough to click it. In other words you'll have a better variation of ads to offer your visitors to get them interested in clicking. In addition, image ads usually looks too much like an ad, and visitors tend to click on text ads more often than image ads, if you blend it in good with the layout of your site

    NO....

search these forums and check out all of the threads.

Feel free to try image ads out if you would like but I'm sure you will find that you will get less clicks and less money per click. My ctr and pay per click were terrible. The supply/demand ration is way lopsided on image ads so you get paid dirt.

Thanks a lot guys. The reason I put image ads onto my site was because it showed the same ad everytime and worked nicely with the site.

Ill change into text ads and see how I go.

If you are referring to PPC, I don't think so. Although that may be dependent on the niche, the # of adword payees for that niche, etc. Interesting thought.

images are hell....I think they are irritating and users know they are ads.

I have better CTR with text ads.

no image ads pay as much as text ads - but i personally think that they dont have the attractive value as text links and drives away potential clickers.thye blare out as ads - dont click us - message on them. not worthy at all.

I changed to text ads a few days ago. Since then the avg earnings per click has gone up only $0.02, and the CTR has dropped, im getting about 25% less clicks.

Like I said the banners that were showing on my site looked good and and suited my site (they were always dreamstime banners). Im goign to give it a week and see if the text links pick-up. If not I'll revert back to banners.

    Thanks for the replys.

I believe text ads are much better than image ads. Just a personal preference, but I think text ads which are blended into the website are just better and produce better CTR and also seem much more consistent than image ads.

Text adds have a better Click through rate than image adds, but image ads may have CPM basis rates. You can apply image ads on forum related sites because they generate more page impressions, i just have placed an image add in my directory submission page and i got a very little amount of $$ without any click, its is i think CPM that give me $$
