    Hello,

I am a total domain name noobie.

I really need some help setting up my DNS properly.. Here is the thing.

I registered my own domain at company X yesterday. I need to setup my DNS properly to my webhosting provider.

Here is the email I got from my webhosting provider where I bought my reseller package from:

You can create custom nameserver by using the following IP to create your childnameserver:
    IP:*.*.*.162

I need to know how to setup my DNS (ns1 and ns2) and how to work with child nameservers. Ive never had any experience with that.

I am running WMH software on this hosts.

    Thanks for your help!

Your name servers are set from within your domain management control where you registered your domain name.

Login to your account and look for a name server link or icon. If you have more than one domain you will need to select the one in question before clicking the link. Usually there is an option for custom name servers. Choose that and then enter in the info.

    I hope that helps out

    I think I found my 2 nameservers (ns1 and ns2)

The nameservers were already set by my webhosting provider.

I went to WMH -> DNS -> Edit DNS Zone for my domain.

I saw 2 nameservers, went to my domain registrar and updated my DNS servers. Now, the only thing I have to do is to wait 48 hours :)

They say it takes up to 48 hours, but in most cases it actually takes just a few minutes.

Typically it gets along within 3 hours of updating the Nameservers but may take upto 72 hours as well

Be patient, if the name servers are correct it wont take long.

Then you either haven't waited long enough or you did it wrong.
Just out of interest you did type two different IP address's for your name servers didn't you?
