It should only take a few minutes.

If you still don't see the new site use a proxy or clear your browser and dns cache.

    Hope this helps

New DNS may take upto 24-48 hours to fully propagate all across the globe. Meanwhile, you can access your new site through the IP address.

The time is depend on your geographical location.
If you're location is near with domain hoster, then it should be within hour.
Normally it should take max 45 hour.

Sorry to hijack the thread a little bit, but I have my domain http://ihatestacy.com and most other people can see it and I can only see it in a proxy but not on my normal internet.

I cleared both my caches, is there something wrong or is it still propigating?

The most important thing is, the cache, first of all, the cache of your computer, but that can be reset by:
    ipconfig /flushdns
The bigger problem is your ISPs cache, which resets 24h, 48h, depends on your provider really...

Users from OpenDNS.com don't have those propagation delays. When a domain changes any kind of record or even name servers... you only have to go on their website to clear the cache and see your domain instantly. Try it out and say good bye to your propagation delays.
