I am not sure if this is a problem or not but I thought I would ask. My domain name is registered at Godaddy and I used godaddy as the DNS to point to the IP address of my website. When you type in the website address it works just fine. But when you type in the IP address of my VPS it takes me to the "Parrallels Small business panel default page". Is this a problem or is this how it is supposed to be? This is my first VPS, I am used to shared hosting.
Hello there, It's not a problem, it sounds like the default domain name in Apache is before your domain in the configuration file. I don't know anything about Plesk, so not sure the best route on changing this, if you really wanted to. Chris
Have you assigned the IP as dedicated IP to your apache specific to your domain in control panel ? If yes, then You will need to wait for about 24-48hrs until the IP update to propagate. I experienced the same typing ip causing to load cpanel default page and waited until it worked fine.
That is not a problem, by default the main IP resolves to the default directory of the server. Since yours is a Plesk VPS, it displays the Plesk default page. If you would like to view the website on the IP as well, get an additional IP from the hosting provider and assign that to your website and change the A record in the GoDaddy panel.
DNS is not a problem on your side. Just check if you have your files in the right directory. For plesk, it should be /home/user/httpdocs
