    hi all,

So i have taken hostgator hosting and i have few domains registered on hostgator...now my problem is that i do not understand the basics of how all this work...

so for instance i have a domain mydomainname.com registered at godaddy..

    1. how can i host only sub domain (something.mydomainame.com) to hostgator..

    2. What is an A record, how is it related to domain name.

    3. what is the different ways of creating sub domains... (are there more than 1?)

    4. any resource where i can learn all the basic nuts and bolts of this type of stuff? Any book/website that you will recommend..

    regards,

    Hello!
I assume you can use Cpanael guide for that or rely on the your web hosting company support

If you point your domain to the DNS Servers that HostGator gives you, you can host a subdomain by adding the subdomain inside of your cPanel and the DNS will be taken care of. (and many other things like that).

If you want to use GoDaddy's hosted DNS then you're on your own as far as that goes.
