DN forwarding and keyword importance?

    Hello,

I recently aquired a bunch of DNs that are kinda long but have the perfect keywords for my website.

Will it hurt, help or have no effect on my website rankings if I were to forward all of these "Keyword DNs" to my main website homepage???

I don't want to ruin my site rankings by doing so.

    I'm hoping it will help.

    So if I own, Rentahome.com and I fwd'd.....

    Findahometorentorown.com, wherecanirentahome.com, thecheapesthomesforrent.com, etc.....

Would that help, hurt or have no effect on my website.

Will Google think of these as mirror sites even though they have no content and just fwd to RentAHome.com
    ???

    thanks for replies

I think Google will penalize for duplicate content if they ever get wind of the new domains. We had a domain name pointing to a site. Someone linked to the domain we were pointing to site and got dropped from original indexing and were then indexed under secondary domain name.

I would put some unique content on the new domains you just bought.

    Good luck.

Hmm... So maybe I should just use the 301 redirect rather than just doing a simple forward.

I don't want to make a unique website for each name, I just want all name to point to my main site.

So I guess if the google bot gets sent to one of my "keyword names" it will index it as a seperate site even though it has been forwarded to my main sites homepage. Resulting in Google thinking that I have mirror sites..

perhaps I'll just use the 301 redirect, I know google won't index that.

If no one knows of the existance of the domains that are redirected to the site what is the purpose of having them? Do you expect type in traffic?

yes I'm looking for type in traffic.

Plus I thought it might help to have DNs with my keywords going to my site.

Will that help my rankings for those keywords?

Wish someone would jump in here who has done what you are suggesting. I don't see how keyword in domain name will help unless you are indexed under the domain name. Now type in traffic may be another thing.

so if I have a domain name ex: IwantToFindaPlacetoMeetLocalSingles.com

won't I be at the top of the list if someone does a search via google, msn, etc... for "I want to find a place to meet local singles".

I would not expect you to be unless you had that phrase on your page or had that URL indexed. I could be wrong. I am just playing devils advocate here but do not see the advantage.

no, as i explained on another forum, google will ignore the other domains and only index the domain it lands on. Therefore having hundreds of different domains will not help you rank for hundreds of different keywords. google is not that stupid.

Yeah, I'm just trying to get more opinions, some people could be wrong so I tend to post my questions in multiple forums and go with the most common answer.

But will it hurt my website?
