You have this pie-in-the-sky notion that by being nice in your public DMOZ comments you are going to instigate change from within. As I told you this morning, it just isn't going to happen. I don't think you have any idea how long all this has been going on. Or how deep the rot goes.

One more time: If those "good" DMOZ editors had any interest in changing the situation, or if any of the editors who did have any interest had any power, why didn't it happen years ago? In 2000 and 2002, they gave Hutcheson AWARDS (!) - does that imply to you that the DMOZ editors community disapproves of him?

People have been silent about what goes on there for too long because they were worried it might get already listed sites banned or new submissions denied. Well, guess what? Being silent and nice doesn't do any good -- Will's story is only one of hundreds or thousands.

There is only one real hope left: Complain loud and long and frequently. Lobby Google. Complain some more. And then lobby Google some more.

Google is the only reason those RZ morons exist now.

I'm really not worried. I have engaged some of those guys in threads at various places before so I know they're aware of my feelings. And I've been pretty consistent and pretty vocal in stating my opinions about DMOZ, RZ, and editor rot before -- I'm sure there's nothing here they haven't heard from me and many others before.
