/me slips back into his asbestos jumpsuit. It seems to me that there is plenty of room in this army for quite a few different viewpoints: 1. Those who think that DMOZ is useless and needs to be ignored. 2. Those who think that DMOZ is broken and needs to be fixed. 3. Those who think DMOZ is sick and needs to be put down. 4. Those who think stuff that has never even occurred to me. I don't believe that any of us are, at this point, forward-thinking enough to be able to perfectly envision the exact details of the eventual solution. As we are all heading the same direction, it seems to me that we should be able to travel together. Some of us want to go further, some of us want to go less far. Some of us want to go a little to the left, some of us want to go a little to the right. In general though, I think we are all heading in the same direction. I do not see anything signicantly wrong with using multiple strategies concurrently. These strategies may (or may not) include: 1. Creating a web site devoted to documenting DMOZ flaws. 2. Lobbying AOL to restructure or close DMOZ. 3. Lobbying Google to drop DMOZ. 4. Creating an alternative web directory system which is able to allow other web sites to mirror its database at no cost. 5. Abusing abusive DMOZ editors until they cry, and quit. 6-100. Other ideas which I cannot even imagine at this time. Some participants may choose to devote their time and resources to just one strategy. They may choose a strategy which meets their personality, their world view, or their available resources. The key, to my mind, is to create a framework where people can plug into. Therefore, I am going to choose option #1 as soon as I come up with a domain name. That doesn't mean that I turn my back on options 2-100. There's more than one way to skin a polecat.
TOOT, that link that you gave from WPW is the log in page, what actual thread are you talking about where they quoted me here at DP
Anthony, it quoted you giving examples of forums cpb is involved in and stated you saying "Please don't ruin this forum as well ... you are a snake!" Something like that.
Noppid, there are so many CT's about Google that it just makes them bigger and more famous, so why even try PS: Well TOOT he sure did ruin WPW, it was a hot forum at one time until CBP/Birdie ruined it with his moderation that involved heavy censorship of threads and deleting threads. I proved the guy wrong so many times that he could not take it anymore, he banned me at least 4 times under different names
Hi It was me who quoted you and Minstrel on WPW. It seems they were not very happy about it. After receiving hate PM's from DMOZ team in last couple of days, today I got PM from Admin that I am a village fool and it is meaningless to be critical of DMOZ and nothing can be changed. After that I was banned from WPW. But your description of cbp is a classic and right on the target: "He is snake, folks."
We can't get rid of TOOT with a shitty mop He told us he was going to leave us and take this DMOZ stuff to his forum but he loves the hot DMOZ action here GWORLD you are not missing anything and WPW, they have ruined that forum and no one really goes there anymore, it is not worth posting when threads and content is deleted anyway. If a forum has no editorial integrity it is not worth even reading or posting to. Minstrel, please take TOOT around back to the woodshed and give him 50 lashes
No way. Anthony, you know damn well that we all agreed whippings were your responsibility. And I'm not going any where near that woodshed since the unfortunate incident with the pit bull and the Persian cat... I'm still having nightmares.
WPW mad at Minstrel or me Who cares, they banned me 5 times and if they ban Minstrel they will be up shit creek, bet on it
