You have submitted it, not forget about it. If you are lucky you would get approved. I would not really bother worrying about it, since its not gonna make any significant difference in SEO and marketing your website.

dmoz listing process is really not known, so good that you have submitted, but don't just wait for it to happen. If you get listed 6 months / a year down the line or even earlier, consider yourself to be good in your domain and "lucky" as well.

In the meantime, goahead and devote your time to market your site in other places, link directories and every other place you can
    Cheers

The chances of your site getting into DMOZ are slim to none. The heath category already has a lot of authority sites with content from medical doctors. Take a look at the category you submitted to, and ask yourself if it is better than the best site already listed.

A DMOZ listing is something worth the time to submit, but it isn't going to give your site a huge boost and isn't likely to bring you any traffic. It can take over a year (depends on the category) before it is even looked at.

Some of the categories in DMOZ are saturated. I am sure the editors are tired of seeing (for years now) yet another Health and Fitness Site, Make Money Online, Web Hosting review, "Funny" Videos, Celebrity Fan Site, Insurance, Forex Blog, Video Game Blog, Blog about Blogging, and Webmaster Forum.

These categories are stuffed, and something would have to be really spectacular to make it in...I think at this point most of them get ignored because every new blogger or webmaster chooses these niches over and over again, and there is only so much original content in these subjects out there and usually the first 100 sites have it covered.

Probably 10% of their submissions are actually original, just judging by how many webmasters keep starting these blogs and websites in these heavily saturated niches everyday.

There are other reasons that DMOZ as well as any other reputable directory would ignore you:

    *Substandard, Average, or Default Design.
    *Too Much Advertising (Adsense everywhere)
    *Spam Site
    *Auto Blog
*Questions about copy written images and content
*Linking to copy written material, or promoting illegal downloads.
*Too New , or not enough content
    *Free Hosted blog
*Questions about ownership (Whois registration inconsistencies)
    *Linking to questionable sites
*Offensive content (DMOZ is a G-rated, Family style directory)
*Bad Grammar, Spelling Errors, Broken English.

It's just basic common sense. Every site will not get consideration because many of them just aren't that good, or original.

Your website has to truly be a source of information, or entertainment. That is what they are looking for, not blogs with just enough keywords and rewritten articles of commonly known information made for adsense...they are pretty hip to that, and those will not pass.

Directories like DMOZ (generally) are not for just every blog that you plop together with a decent design. Content is everything.

If I was an editor, and I reviewed a site and the the first thing I was when I loaded the page was 2 adsense blocks and a banner (more ads than content)...I would never come back to it.

A lot of the sites that I have seen over the years that have complained about not getting listed, or have been waiting for months suck. I wouldn't submit them either. That is not to be rude...I have at least 20 sites, that I would never submit, because they are just not of that caliber. I know which ones to tackle and which to leave alone. Doesn't mean they don't make any money, or get traffic...they are just not DMOZ quality and I know it.

I have a few sites listed...I thought it would be a big deal and it would help SEO and Traffic, but it really doesn't. I can't remember the last time DMOZ was a traffic referring link on my stats.

It's a nice thing to list when you are targeting businesses for private advertising, especially if they are not listed, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

It's like the Ron Popiel Oven Roaster.."Set It and Forget It".

Dmoz is NOT worth the time or the effort. I am overtaking competitors who are registered in Dmoz (I'm not) so it is giving them no advantage.
