That was very discrete of you, but why don't you enlighten me, it's not as obvious to me. Don't be shy, I don't get angry. Why don't you whisper it in Ivan or Q's ear, and I'll deal with the issue.
Not to derail from the Ops original post but... I run a number of free article directories, and approve/decline a few hundred articles every day. When i decline an article i have a drop-down with a number of reasons why the article was rejected. Why doesn't DMOZ do something similar? It really only takes 1/2 a second to choose "Article was under 500 Words" and the submitter knows it's been reviewed, what the issue was for decline and what to do in future to make their article worthy for inclusion.
It's a good idea, and it may happen someday, but right now I think it's a matter of using the limited resources the Directory has for higher priority things. We do hear new ideas from the public and those things aren't just dismissed, if they're good ones they're noted for future consideration. Don't think our new AOL staff are just sitting on their hands, it takes time to implement new things and work out the bugs. The CAPTCHA feature is something new.
Since I got my hands full with two programmers creating my CMS I know from first hand how lazy they can be and this is only concerning programing without bug fixing, compared to them DMOZ editors work at lighting speed. Also programmers logic is completely opposite to most of the real world and usually they have their own opinion on what is perfectly created which in realty is often usability nightmare. (I shouldn't complain about these two much since previous programmers were ten times worse, first one took full year to do what they have done in three months and second one stopped answering phone after about a month - he was so lazy he didn't even attempt to con me for at lest partial payment )
I think is just a 30 minute PHP script! About what priority you talk? You have hundreds of frustated people and you talk about priorities? That's no respect! That's it! Wow! CAPTCHA feature? That's really new! About 4 years old, man...
