DMOZ, what is it and how do I get listed?

What is DMOZ? Do I want to be listed here? If so, how?

It is a human-edited directory. You do want to be listed there as it provides a useful backlink to your website.

The value of this link is debated by SEO's though but I still think it is worth doing as a backlink is a backlink

You can submit your site at http://www.dmoz.org/ - You will need to drill down to the relevant area/category though.

Note that it can take weeks/months, even years before they add you - best to 'submit and forget'

Thanks. I noticed a line item in a domain evaluation site that said, "DMOZ: no listing", so I was curious. I have submitted my site and am now forgetting about it.

Yes dmoz is supposed to be one of the best directories to get listed in. Unfortunately it can be extremely tough to get listed in most categories. A lot of category editors are either inactive or are purposely blocking competitor listings.

not worth your time. It is an editor corrupted site, and you can get more valuable seo results for the same effort.
