I am not sure if everyone already knows this. Just check http://livepr.raketforskning.com/?u=www.dmoz.org Is it a sign that Google would put more weight on quality web directory? Edit: It is probably old value as CReed said.
What I get is: Alexa Rank: 210 [show graph] Google Backlinks: ~218000 Average PR: 8.1 | Max PR: 9 | Min PR: 8 It could be true, soon.
You're seeing PR from a few DC's that were not updated and show old values. Check the PR of some of your sites where the PR changed and I believe you'll see similar results - you can see which dc's have your own sites old PR values.
No its simply because of links that Dmoz has generated Since Dmoz was down many people started discussing about Dmoz with urls like(dmoz.org) so Dmoz once again had a higher page rank
Some Google sites returning 9, but I'm seeing an 8.1 average overall. Staggeringly high for such an obsolete and unhelpful tool.
So you all seem to agree that dmoz PR magically "updated" to a 9 out of nowhere C'mon. It's the old values.
upgraded to PR9? I should do that too, but don't really have time to mess with all the template changes needed!
I have to agree with CReed on this as well. Dmoz use to be a pr9 just like yahoo directory was once a pr9 both have dropped to an 8. The pr values you see on some of the data centers are in fact old pr. If you do a google backlink check you also see the same thing, some data centers still show results from the 1st backlink update when index-it.net only had 155 google backlinks and some show that I still have 471 google backlinks from the september update, and of course some are showing the current backlinks which are 3,190. So without question you are seeing old pr values. And by the way I see pr0 on almost all of dmoz inner pages in my toolbar.
Are you using www? If so, try http://dmoz.org. Other than this category and its subs, I believe all cats have PR. This one has been this way (PR0) for quite a long awhile. Watch out for all of the consipracy theories as to why.
you are right, I am seeing pr without the www. By habit I still always use the www when puting in domain names.
