Simply because you cannot engage in a debate on the issues, or an exploration of the facts when there are a group of people who are using those issues as an excuse to pursue their own personal agenda.

The issues have become a vehicle for certain people to use in their vendetta. against the ODP. They do not care about the issues at hand. In some cases the people who are jumping on this bandwagon should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. It is utterly wrong and morally repugnant to take delicate and sensitive issues such as these and to twist them for their own personal gain. But that is what is happening.

There are plenty of people posting here with valid concerns. Some even have a long standing gripe with the ODP, but they do seem genuinely concerned about this topic. It's just a shame that they can't be heard over the endless bleatings from Minstrey, Anthony and Gworld.

That is like Bush blaming a child in Iraq for the destruction of his city, it is the kids fault that his home city is destroyed because he was born Muslim, not our fault, we had to bomb his home! :D

Blame us for the porn listings now..........:p

You can. You can ignore the irrelevancies otherwise you are just contributing to the excess noise. Instead you are focusing on pursuing what you imagine are their motivations and ignoring the real issues. Which is pointless.

And yet again, another post full of self-justifying bullshit from Minstrel that adds nothing to this thread.

You should be deeply ashamed of your conduct here, Minstrel.

I believe that so far I am the only person who has commented on the actual content of the "affimative views" category in post #806 this thread.

Brizzie, I respect your point of view, but I must disagree with you. This thread was hijacked the moment that Minstrel, Gworld and Anthony started to post in it. I'd personal hate for anybody to mistake their "noise" for "signal". Unfortunately, nobody else has stood up to this little gang of self-obsessed bullies.

Yeah, we are real mean people that will save AOL from being fined a few hundred million dollars :D

I would bet that they hate us for making them aware of possible lawsuits that they face because of some greedy volunteer editors actions! :D

And you continually bait them which makes you just as bad if not worse. Pack it in and behave professionally, doesn't matter what anyone else does, you are representing an editor point of view and what you say reflects on DMOZ. What non-editors say reflects only on themselves.

Well he will not be an editor for long and I think he knows it, when identified he is as good as fired, that is why he is so mad....

Translation: Even DMOZ doesn't want you any more. That may be a good sign actually: Perhaps the sane are winning the internal DMOZ debate over these sites.

Amazing: You support multiple DMOZ listings for sites like those identified in this thread and you can say (with a straight face) that I should be ashamed of myself?

LOL, I don't think so, I'm not a company man! Besides I wouldn't do that job if you paid me. Unpaid, untrained, no proper AOL support, long hours, mostly hassle from inside and out, 24/7/365, no real power to actually do anything without the consent of the committee of 8 (and you try doing anything effectively via a committee), and you have to try and please everyone, which inevitably fails. No win. In the real world that job would be worth about US$100k a year at least. Probably more. AOL are getting a good deal - very cheap fall guys.

Well maybe that is the reason editors put in affiliate links Brizzie!

AOL needs to convert to professional editors like Yahoo and other directories have or turn to automation and dump all of the editors as has been suggested here by you know who.....:D

No, IMO DMOZ needs professional management - a single full time editor in chief as it used to have. The volunteer editor concept is the DMOZ unique selling point and without them it would not work. But volunteers need to be professionally managed and via a route that can be decisive when needed.

I agree, it is a lot less expensive than facing 100's of millions in fines and lawsuits :)

Millions of dollars in fines? For what? Not listing your sites?
