DMOZ Submission

I've submitted my urls to DMOZ multiples times starting as far back as 2005 and have had none, ZERO added to the directory.

What's the trick here? Do I have to perform some intimate acts with an editor to get listed?

To be honest? Just fire and forget. Either that or try and become an editor yourself. A DMOZ listing isn't the holy grail of directory listings - it's not even that important anymore. But it can help nonetheless.

there is no trick (well, unless you get to be an editor) and i would not suggest you to loose any sleep over it. i was able to get any sites listed in DMOZ 6-7 years back, even ones that were hosted on geocities at that time. its been few years now that i have not been able to get a single site listed there so i don't bother submitting anymore

    Exactly, 100% right.
    Dmoz is worthless now.

Its far from worthless. DMOZ still passing on a good amount of authority for the serps. But getting in now is much trickier than it used to be.

I heard a trick to do a extremely simple submission. So short titles and description etc. It may help but what I dont get is that I hardly ever hear of anyone being submitted anymore. Why even have the directory with little fresh content.

    2) while submitting in DMOZ follow the rules
    3) submit every after 6 months

I would agree with that view. Authority of DMOZ have fallen massively in last years. I would bet that Google dropped its importance to its algo few years ago. For me DMOZ is dead end idea, but that's just my personal view :)

every time you re-submit on DMOZ, you're be placed all the way at the back of the line, all over again.

there is no golden rules for same, its just pure luck these days if u get added in dmoz. There is a lot of arguments that dmoz is worthless now but i still sites being listed in dmoz getting ranked fairly easily than others, so keep on trying submitting after 4-6 months period.
