its not that tough to get into Dmoz.org.. just concentrate on your link's title, description and category for your links.. and will suggest you to read their guidelines for submitting link to the directory once thoroughly before submitting.. that would help you much better then asking here...

Well, it's tricky, I couldn't even submit a website to joe ant directory...
I'm thinking - way too many websites are submitted, and it's just a long waiting list.
I applied for an editor and I never even received a "confirmation" message...

It would be nice wouldn't it!

I also have had no luck in getting my site listed in the DMOZ. Unfortunately per submission guidelines, you can't submit more than once or so, so trying a different category is out of the question.

getting into dmoz depends on a very large number of things.

    1. is your site any good

    2. is the sector busy

    3. was your webserver up and running the day they came to review it

    4. etc etc.

I have DOZENS of sites in the dmoz, because it used to be an essential part of seo. It's not, anymore, and I for one don't bother.

The only reason why I got in was b/c I submitted my site about 8-9 years ago, back when it only took a short amount of time to get approved.

I too, was easily approved years ago for my DMOZ submissions. One of our web sites has been in there since 2001. I have had no luck at all with submissions for the past two years. The site in question is a completely relevant to the category. At times, I wonder if there is even an editor for the category. I haven't seen any changes made to it in a very long time. So, maybe they didn't see my site as legitimate, or maybe no one has even looked at it. Who knows?

That said, I suppose DMOZ isn't as important as it used to be for organic rankings or direct traffic. Even though one of our sites is listed, I don't receive any direct traffic from the link. I can't really speak to whether it has helped us achieve and maintain our organic rankings over the past eight years. I suppose I could speculate that it had something to do with our earlier success in organic rankings for that site. I just don't know how much clout a DMOZ listing carries now.

Does anyone see it as super-important anymore? Do any of you have any experience where your organic Google rankings got much better after your submission to DMOZ was accepted?

I have been waiting for almost 2 months now and still no listing. I also applied to be an editor and was rejected. I heard of people waiting up to 15 months to be accepted and I think it depends on the category\waiting list length etc. If you submit more then once they won't take you at all. So I will wait patiently and hope for the best. Goodluck everyone!

I submitted a while back - I forgot about it and I don't care. I'm doing fine without it. So don't worry about it. Just concentrate on your keywords, content and backlinks and everything will be cool.

Don't waste your time on submitting to them... It's really hard to be listed on that directory, I suggest you focus on new directories which immediately approve new listings.

Just submit your website in Dmoz and forget it and don't even check it.
