Did an editor tell you this or are you guessing?

How can we know that the site is rejected.

I am also seeing that the category in which I had submitted my forum is updated on 28May 2007 :(

Guess what, my site is not listed.

You can only find out by asking an editor to look.

A lot of times when categories get updated there are still sites left unreviewed so it doesn't mean yours was rejected. We try to do update requests ASAP, so an editor may have went to that category to take care of an update request and then moved on to the next update request. If that happens the category will show an update even though the unreviewed submissions haven't been touched.

There could be a lot of other reasons too.

While I was waiting to get a site listed I noticed that one of the links in the category I was submitting too was dead. I reported the site and the next day it was removed. This updated the category, but my site was still no where to be seen...

    So, there's another reason :D

Well guessing can be minimized if you ask nicely some nice editors at Dmoz Resources Forums.

Lots of good editors there to help out all the webmasters, it pleases me to see happy faces when someone gets their site status.

After all we are humans and should step forward to help others where we can , and set our differences aside. And it does not hurt to be the first person to take the first step in making things right again. No shame in that.

Actually I had applied for inclusion but it didn't appear in the directory search results so i assumed that my site has been rejected. Now I am going to contact with any editor to review my site.

I wouldn't. It would be improper for any editor to review your site after contact with you. Except to reject it. You have submitted it and that constitutes a request for a review. When that happens is completely pot luck and there isn't any legitimate way to influence that. There are illegitimate means, e.g. bribery, but there is a good chance of earning a life ban for any site you are associated with and anything more than $5 is a waste of money.

Don't waste time and effort - submit - forget - spend your time and effort on things you can influence and are worth influencing.
