I don't believe DMOZ links carry a lot of weight in google's algorithms, and although there's a possibility you might get some good results by paying to be listed in yahoo's directory I wouldn't suggest it because if you're in some good traffic google is the way to go and I truly doubt that yahoo's directory has much influence on google's serps.

A lot of people say that .edu and .gov links carry more weight when it comes to link building, although no one can say from sure apart from google itself, I don't really think the algorithm is affected much based on what TLD is used.

I'm not sure what you mean by get listed in wikipedia, but if I remember correctly all links from wikipedia are no-follow so that won't do you much good.

Only Yahoo cud give some benefits in Ranking. While Dmoz & others like .EDU, .GOV dsn't give help to boost in your SERP's. So don't target them. Do each & every thing.

    To answer your questions...

1.) It can help. However, getting listed by DMOZ will take a LONG time in most cases. You'll be far better off paying the fee to Yahoo. If you do submit a request to DMOZ, do so only once (in other words, fire and forget).

2.) Those won't help you much, especially since most of the .edu links will just be crappy student pages anyway. As for the .gov links, that depends on how useful you are to be cited as a resource by a governmental department site.

3.) I don't know, nor do I care. If they want to link me (and they have), they'll do so on the merits of the quality content I wrote.

    same question so many times??
listen dude,, TLDs dsnt have much effect on your site. You may use .edu or .gov. They are meant for specialization in any one field. likewise if you have a commercial site, you may use .com..... if your site is UK targetted, you may use .uk as extension. but dnt get botherd so much for that.
for wikipedia, just sign-up and you wll get your answer

Once you get listed in DMOZ you'll notice your link starts appearing on lots of directory sites because of all the people that scrape DMOZ for good sites.
