Yahoo - quicker turn around, more links per submission, good trust value.

DMOZ is better in SEO, because indexed by ODP, you are also found by many big search engines. Yahoo is my second choice, higher PR, and though paid, fast review and approve.

    Beep !! Wrong answer.

Yahoo is much better for SEO.
DMOZ is 1 Link. No Traffic. Unless all DMOZ editors will click your site daily.

Yahoo is definitely better. You can get a good number of visitors from a yahoo directory listing. But you will have to pay of course. :)

Sorry popo, I didn't see the part where the OP asked what's better for traffic.

I still think for "site status" the correct answer is both.

Yahoo costs money, DMOZ is free.

So Yahoo is better for SEO since you can pay to get the site reviewed and maybe listed. Yahoo does not guarantee to list the site, just review it.

DMOZ, you take your chance that an editor will chose to review it.

Yahoo by far, it is one of the directories you actually get a lot of traffic from. Plus you get one invaluable link back t your site.

    I'M SO CONFUSED.

    Why YAHOO?????

Are you kidding me? YahoO! Dir is better then DMOZ?

If I was to pay $500 to get into DMOZ and then eventually added into the ODP dump that 400+ directories use, then I wouldn't hesitate for a second.

When I paid $299 for YahoO! Dir, I actually hesitated and had to think about it.

First of all, Directories have become a bit obsolete. Thanks to popular search engines like Google and Yahoo Search. So if you do actually receive visitors from Yahoo! Dir , its probably 13-20 at most. My site alone been accepted 2 or so months ago and I received about 50 visitors...of course it may vary upon the category you submit to..but I can't picture it to be that much of a difference.

Heres why DMOZ is GREAAAAAAAAAAT if you get in:
Your PR shoots up...oh yeah shoots up to at least PR4, PR5.
It helps your SERP's 5-6 months after you been listed because most likely 200+ directories will have the updated ODP rdf dump. Thats 200 inlinks! And perhaps more!..much more!

This in the end helps your SEO greatly compared to your $300 spent at Yahoo! Dir. Oh and..DMOZ IS FREE.

An example of how being accepted in DMOZ and eventually listed in many directories using the ODP will help your SERP's.

Ladies and Gents, believe me when I say this....this site I'm about to list below is LISTED INSIDE DMOZ AND HAS BEEN APPROVED BY A VOLUNTEER EDITOR.
    http://thestatman.tripod.com/

Yes ...a site like that that gets free hosting and only one page of content that has literally no use for anyone but Ad's and numbers.

Not only was it listed, it was listed inside a pretty pouplar top level category. This site is PR 5.

Goto google.com, type in keyword "statman"

This site is ranked #1...no suprise thanks to how many inlinks it has because of DMOZ and ODP.

Now look at the number 2-6 sites and ask yourself, shouldn't those sites be ranked higher then this stupid silly little page that is probably updated once a year?

Its these type sites that get listed that make people complain about the unfairness of DMOZ.

This just goes to show how DMOZ can be very valuable in SEO. Believe me...don't listen to these folks saying Yahoo! dir is actually better being inside DMOZ.
