I am really curious if anyone has recently got into DMOZ ODP.

how long did it take you to get in?
    Did you resubmit?
did you pay your way in? :p

    post here thanks.

(i have submitted over 10 websites - multiple times over 5 months)
so far I only got visited twice (seen in stats by editors - i was not added...)

From what I have read over and over, submitting multiple times will at best get your site moved to bottom of pile each time you submit and at worse totally deleted from the queue.

The rule of thumb is submit and forget. Either they accept the site or they do not.

We submitted one of our sites two years ago, but it's still not listed. Probably our competitor is the editor of that category...

There's been a lot of wandering in this forum lately. Maybe someone should look into that.

I say who cares, just because Google gives links in dmoz more weight (FWIR), it's just another back link <shrugs sholders>

I had a site in recently. The site (blog actually) was new and I did not submit it to DMOZ.

It seems to be a really problem.I know one of my competitor who is editor and he owned a couple sites. All site from him are listed in very short time but he reject majority of other sites.
And he is only editor for that category. Abuse of editors can be a really problem not only for webmaster of other competitors site but also for DMOZ in global as number direcotry..

This will be a right decision. while some sites because of their size and variety of subjects deserve multiple links (The same sites that actually don't need multiple links from DMOZ for marketing because these are established), many of deep links are nothing more than marketing tools for editors.

If you suspect abuse in a category, you should fill out an abuse report, which is linked on the top-right corner of all categories. If you don't feel comfortable sending in an abuse report for whatever reason, you are free to PM me the editor name or category you feel is abusing their position and I'll look at it.

I think the Google Coop might, in due time, reduce the value of a DMOZ link to near zero.

There's no excuse for Google for rely on a Directory that is two years behind the times, and falling behind a little bit more everyday.

I doubt that they give DMOZ links extra value, though they might have at some time.

One day, soon I hope, DMOZ editors dreams will come true. DMOZ will no longer be "spammed" by pesky webmasters submitting their websites for Google PR. Once this abject duty removed, they can go on to lovingly buliding catageories, and searching for sites themselves.

That quote was from March 16, 2004. What GG actually said was
Interesting. I used to follow GG's posts pretty carefully, but I missed that one. There has been some speculation that Google can and does consider sites as a whole these days, rather than the simple focus on pages that PageRank was founded on. So sitewide links could be discounted, for example. Multiple links from the ODP would come in the same category I suppose.

Around 1000 sites get accepted and published in DMOZ every day.

You can find them all by simply downloading two recent versions of DMOZ's "RDF", and comparing them for differences:
