Jimnoble may be listed as a member but he did quit, he said so and has not been back. When he quit he changed his information to something he wouldn't remember so he couldn't come back even it he wanted to.

As far as the possibility of a name change from pagode to aquarius, I can't say for certain that you're wrong. I do agree with brizzie that it's not likely, because of the fact that there is an active editor using the name aquarius. It would be inappropriate for pagode to use another editor's name.

I'm not debating that jimnoble scampered back to RZ. My point is that he's still listed as a member. Why isn't pagode?

I don't know. Is there a way to resign from the forum or close your account?

My guess is either he quit officialy or you could be right, but I honestly don't know which is true.

Quitting officially doesn't remove your member listing. Changing your name does. Perhaps getting banned does too - not sure.

Either way, I don't see the relevance. Not sure where you are looking, but he shows as being here to me:

Like everything else within digitalpoint.com, you can just search Google to find what you want too. ;)

    OK - I missed that.

Does that prove they aren't the same person?

Nothing proves anything either way. You can make an educated guess (they aren't banned/merged for example). But if you want to get technical, there is nothing I have that would definitively prove or disprove any user in this forum isn't the same as someone else.

Also... it should be noted that I haven't read the beginning of this thread, so I don't even know who you are referring to as far as the other user goes.

Right. It's easy enough to use another ISP or a proxy to set up duplicate accounts. There are existing DP members who have done that.

The other member is aquarius, if you care about it.

Yes. We've already established that, orlady.

True, but in the case of the aquarius & pagode users in this forum, there is enough evidence on my end (web logs from this forum being part of it) that they were the same person. The newer account was merged into the older account, and the resulting account gets a ban for a certain amount of time for violating this forum's terms of service (that multiple accounts are not allowed here).

Wow, that really surprises me, I wouldn't have said it was pagode's style to use another editor's name, or to breach anyone's rules anywhere, and the posts seemed to come from someone I would have classified as a new and inexperienced editor. Sorry minstrel, if what Shawn says is true it seems you were right.

Perhaps the next step is to investigate whether those two DMOZ editors are the same person.

Hmmm! Shawn, does this mean you have ways to distinguish between multiple users in the same household using the same computer? If so, that really boggles my mind.

As regards the editors one is Dutch and one is French. So it should be fairly easy to do the check on the DMOZ side.

For myself, I had a déjà vu in this thread yesterday evening, what do you mean by ..."one is French"?

PS: resolved, if you mean the editor by the name aquarius being French.
