Just how do you get listed in DMOZ? Have tried submitting URL but to no effect. Anyone tell me how? Thanks
you need to wait for them to see your site and then accecpt the site. it may take from 5 mins to 1-2 yrs. Also depends on the content of your site , then is it submitted at the right category. Plz see dmoz faq for more info.
Although a couple of years ago five minutes was possible (I know I've reviewed and listed several sites within 10 minutes of submission) it is no longer possible due to changes in processing. It's more like a day or two minimum. Maximum time could be very long, more than two years in some categories. Actual times for reviews will vary depending on the category, the number of sites being suggested and the number of editors interested in editing a category and the time they have available to volunteer.
to get a dmoz listing you have to have a good quality site which is actually useful to the end user. not just a site made with RSS feeds and made for google.. dont submit a forum with 20 users and 50 posts.. me personally i wait atleast 3-4 months after i consider my site "developed" alot of the time your site wont even get reviewed for over a year becuase of the lack of active editors in that category. or actual motivation to edit the category.. you would be suprised(or maybe not) at the amount of shitty sites being submitted to dmoz Submit and forget.
I would hope you are not referring to Adventure Holidays - Please keep coming back as there are going to be around 100 different adventures to choose from when we are finished! - means that the site is under construction and should not be submitted. Great Adventures could be probably be considered a mirror/duplicate content
Take your points. Thanks It isnt Adventure no. It is www.equitour.co.uk and is full of USEFUL information and NOT designed for anything other than a genuine business! Just out of interest how can Great Adventures be considered a mirror/duplicate content?
http://www.thisisadventure.com/ Welcome to This Is Adventure web site offering adventure holidays around the world. It is our aim to provide only the best adventure holidays from selected providers who we have either worked with before or come to us by way of recommendation. Whatever adventure you are looking for we can provide the perfe <- (you might want to fix this) http://www.great-adventures.co.uk/ At This Is Adventure we specialise in organising a wide range of adventure holidays around the world. The two sites are providing the same services under the same name At This Is Adventure, and should not both be submitted.
OK thanks. One of the problems I do foresee with www.equitour.co.uk is that our company banner Equitour Worldwide Riding Holidays is also used by one of our competitors. Who, out of interest ISNT called Equitour!! I think they are already listed under Equitour Worldwide Riding Holidays. I guess this may cause us problems in submitting our site?!?!
center the header (logo) image and set it to not tile horizontally. On large resolutions i can see "Equi" twice. Otherwise, it's a nice site. Don't worry about your submission, it will probably be at least 1 month before someone checks your site.
The "official" DMOZ position is that's a bad idea because 1. each time you submit, it overwrites a previous submission and sends it to the bottom of the date queue, assuming the editor cares about date submitted; and 2. multiple submissions may get you "banned" as a spammer (for ticking off the editor). In reality, since the odds of actually getting listed are slim to start with, it probably doesn't make that much difference other than to create a lot of extra work for you. If you are seen by an editor who likes the site, you'll get listed quickly. If you don't stand out from the crowd in some way, chances are you'll never get listed. Best advice is always submit once and forget about it.
