    hello friends !!

I have submitted my website in DMOZ almost 25 days before under the relevant category, and also follow all the instruction of DMOZ but yet my site is not listed in DMOZ..

so can anybody says me that how much time DMOZ directory takes for approval as well as if you have any list of human edited directories list with fast approval !!

Does Anybody have Dir. List ?

    Thanks !

Check out all the other posts in this category. Your site will probably never get listed, DMOZ rarely updates it's index, I wouldn't fret anymore over the link. If you get it - good, if you don't - don't worry. I;ve never got a site listed there despite high quality sites and submitting to the right category. I'm sure many others below will have had the same experience in recent years

I second that! Most websites listed on dmoz are so old and offer nothing new anyway, most could do with a make over.

DMOZ editors are working as volunteer. So there is no specific time period for approval.

Yep, I third it. Waited years & nothing from DMOZ for any sites. Plus depends who's moderating your category.

Usually over 200 editors, because that is the number of editors who can edit in EVERY category, plus any editor further up the tree.Your site still sits in the suggestions pool waiting for a volunteer editor working in their spare time to volunteer to work there OR it is unlistable because it is against DMOZ guidelines.

More editors, more sites listed, have YOU volunteered to spend your spare time helping?

DMOZ is a waste of time in most cases. I have applied my 2 websites at least 5 times each within the last 3 years with absolutely NO response.

I even applied to be an editor in an area where there were none.....denied!

A bunch of elitists if you ask me. Now they are not nearly as significant as they once were.

I suggest making application and moving on with no expectations of ever hearing from DMOZ. Then, if they do accept your site...Great! If not...then I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Did you check the status of your application here http://www.resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showforum=10.I do not see new applications so cannot make comment.

That was after reading the guidelines that you said you had read when suggesting the site that told you it was against guidelines to submit the same URL more than once? You may well simply have been treated as a spammer.

What rot.It can take from a dew days to a few YEARS for a review for a possible listing. By the way don't resubmit that can disadvantage your site, is against guidelines and can get you banned. If you have suggested a site there is nothing more you can do to promote it there. there is no fast way in except to follow guidelines and then go away and forget about it.

It takes over months .. Since the editor log in the editor page and review new sites. rarely some editors search and add sites themselves.

Pal, they may take forever to include you into their index if they even include you at all. There are plenty of smaller directories that you probably should submit to.

    What rot!

You can also become an editor, and get listed. Becoming an editor generally takes 2-3 weeks or less, because unlike site submissions, after two weeks you can actually check on your status! Though, not all categories need editors, so this does not work for all sites.

Another method of fast inclusion, would be bots! That certainly worked for Topix! Though, this can actually take even more time, as you first need to find a way to actually contact the ODP (not just the editors, the actual AOL department in charge of the directory!) The wait could be worth it though, as the last time someone got them to bot list a site, it included nearly TWENTY THOUSAND deep links to a single site!

As for another way to promote it there, that too is an easy one, just promote by ANY OTHER METHOD, as there are MANY editors that do not even bother with the submission queue, and some categories (that your site may be best suited for) don't even have the option for submission. So by promoting your site by any & all methods is surely the best way to get list, as it covers all the bases, and most importantly, by promoting your site outside of directories is a sure fire way to actually get humans to your site, because honestly, when was the last time a human used a directory for anything by editing or submitting? Most people these days don't even know what a directory is, let alone who the ODP are.

I do agree about the forgetting about it though.

It may have been in our great crash. I have absolutely nothing to do with processing new applications, I don't see them either, but I do believe that editor applications are always replied to, and if there is any doubt then applicants can ask in the forum I pointed out to you.

It does not take a few years. If it takes a few years, its NEVER happening. Happens, or does not. Many areas go unchecked, unmonitored and unmaintained. Its not like you're in some long queue waiting for review. In most cases the queue has no one looking at it.

HAHA, That's some hardcore spamming right there (I would trade my constant daily annoyance of spammers for 10 submissions in 3 years any day of the week)
