    For those who still claim that DMOZ listings are not sold, you can check the price list here. Bidders in Scriptlance won't get paid until the job is done, so please don't come up with stupid excuses that everything is just a fraud.

    You should also notice that only "senior" editors can list a site any where in directory that they want and usual editors can't offer this service.

    Buy a DMOZ listing from "senior" editors. :rolleyes:

    If that's true, it looks like dmoz is corrupt.

    It's not really true. gworld hacked scriptworld so he could make it look like the ODp had some bad apples. We all know the truth though.

    gworld = bad
    DMOZ = good

    Actually, I made a joke a few threads back about being able to get people listed in DMOZ and got several rather nice offers... what a wonderful scam!

    I'd suggest anyone trying to buy their way into the ODP keep three things in mind.

    1) Get listed before you pay. I'm not an editor and could have made a few hundred by saying I was.

    2) Save your money... there is a chance the editor will get caught. If that is the case there is a chance your site will get de-listed. You will NOT get a refund!

    3) Not all the people offering to take your money for a DMOZ listing are kidding around. Some are serious... though keep in mind points 1 & 2

    It doesn't look like DMOZ is corrupt, it is corrupt to the core. There is an organizational corruption which means the problem is not with this editor or that editor, it is problem with organization itself that permits corruption. ;)

    They need to bolster up their internal checks to prevent misuse. Against each entry, they should have a small link to report it as inappropriate and flag websites and editors for manual review based on the reports. This way they can get feedback from the wider community.

    Who is they? It is mostly "senior" editors who are involved in different form of corruption, the normal editors almost have no power to misuse the directory. ;)

    This already exists - the "report abuse/spam" link on each category page.

    BTW someone putting in a bid on such a site doesn't say they can deliver what the poster seeks - I don't understand myself what's going on. Possibly they do a good submission and collect when the site happens to get listed soon afterwards - might be a nice source of revenue

    my arse...

    the corruption in dmoz is overwhelming and it is getting worse by the year...funny how their standards are so strict for editors who haven't been around for a year or longer, yet get no disciplinary action. Or for editors who can't even get past their laziness to go through their queue for a tiny category with a dozen submissions in it...

    It is funny that usual BS defender of DMOZ like Anonymously and nebuchadrezzar don't even try to post their usual BS in defense of DMOZ and instead some one as it's first post tries to post a defense. :rolleyes:

    What is happening is that DMOZ senior editors (editall and above) that can list a site anywhere in the directory are selling listings in DMOZ. There is no point for them to bid if they could not deliver since the projects have time limits and they don't get paid until they deliver. This is DMOZ organizational corruption and no if and but about it. ;)

    That theory would certainly explain why hard working editalls are let go. I mean, why have someone running through monitized categories listing people for free. Maybe the supposed favoritism from editors like Compostaniie was listing DP member sites without the normal fees involved...

    Yep that reasoning would cover my removal as well since just before removal I volunteered to reorganize and add something like 200 missing photo websites (all nicely listed at local directory) to World category, adding 200 websites for free (and many of these are professional photographers) would certainly hurt someones budget - while I editing in useless niches nobody cared but once I dared to ask for something more threat was obvious. :p

    Every editor has ability to list and de-list URL in his/her category. That is why he/she does not mind if customers will pay for the listing.

    Every editor can not list or de-list sites in different category, only "senior" editors can sell links all over DMOZ. It was a time that "senior" editors were happy with spamming DMOZ with affiliate porn links, gambling, pharmacy, real estate and travel sites but since the SEO value of DMOZ is in down trend, they have turned more and more to selling links. ;)

    Holy cow Julian, give it a rest. You have just documented a whole heap a bribe attempts. There are also many bribe attempts here at at DP. The great majority of these have a corresponding red ODP “do not list note” on the URL. In your bizarre post the other day where you claimed that all Christians are child molesters you also claimed that you are an ODP editall. Surely you can see these notes for you can see them for yourself! Here are some samples:

    The master of BS still tries to cover up the corruption in DMOZ while defending pedophile sites under disguise of "freedom of speech". Go kiss some Admin ass since nobody here believes your claims of self importance. How many times do you need me to show what a loser you are? :rolleyes:

    Have you done anything about the adult listings yet? Have you done anything about admins who own commercial sites?
    My link does not show a bribe attempt, it clearly shows DMOZ editors selling links in DMOZ. How about you telling everyone your editor name, so people can check how many pharmacy, gambling, real estate, travel or pedophile sites you and your friends have listed? If you have nothing to hide, what are afraid of, your friends in DMOZ? :rolleyes:
